Interview with Water Engineering Consultant Sarah Dominick

Written by Hailey M., high school River Ranger at The Greenway Foundation, age 18

Sarah Dominick HeadshotSarah Dominick is a woman who loves everything about water and is an engineer. Typically, she does not have the same day twice. A typical day for Sarah Dominick is meeting with clients about problems with business aspects of her job (hiring, firing, helping clients improve in their field). She also works with New York's water system and problem solves with them on how to continue to keep water flowing there. Currently she works in the consulting aspect of engineering. Sarah is also a board member of the non-profit organization, The Greenway Foundation.

Growing up, Sarah always loved problem solving and water sports. A couple things Sarah did as a high school student was take many advanced math and science classes. When she got to college, she loved engineering but wanted to explore what kind of engineering she wanted to do for a living. She came across a waterway internship and knew that was the line of work she wanted to work in. She explains one of her favorite parts of the day is being able to find a solution for her clients. She recommends for young people to always stay curious and ask questions and find a career you are okay doing long term.
