City of Loveland Parks & Recreation

Loveland, CO

The Loveland Parks & Recreation, Open Lands & Trails Division conserves open space, natural areas and wildlife habitat, and provides trails, outdoor recreation and stewardship opportunities for all ages. The program is funded by Loveland's dedicated share of the Larimer County Open Space Sales Tax, which enables us to provide free access and opportunities to all. We currently offer more than 20 miles of soft-surface trails at 15 natural areas open to the public, along with 23 miles of paved trails throughout the community and connecting to other Northern Colorado regional trail systems. Public programs are frequently offered, including guided walks and hikes about local wildlife, native plants, astronomy, geology, history, and water. Educational programs are offered for preschool through middle school groups with curriculum based on grade-level state standards. Our mission is to identify, preserve, protect, connect and enhance open space, natural areas, trails and wildlife habitat to promote the enjoyment of outdoor activities while advancing environmental stewardship, environmental education and outdoor experiences. We strive to offer a range of opportunities for people to learn about, appreciate and steward their local natural areas and resources.
